The Cartersville Lions Club to Host Fall Rally on November 5 at the Clarence Brown Conference Center, 5450 State Route 20, Cartersville, GA

The Fall Rally will be held in Cartersville on November 5. Mark your calendars for a good day to be in Cartersville.  See directions to the Conference Center below.  The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00 AM      Call meeting to order

10:15—11:00 AM     Training Sessions:  1. How to conduct a member orientation at your club or other meeting is being led by John Hathcock, Roswell Lions Club;  2.  Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind, District 18A Camp Vice President is leaving the District at the end of February and will move back to Michigan.  He has asked for this time to meet with the Club representatives that will be present on November 5th to plan for moving the Camp programs forward.

11:00—12:00 Noon     Training Sessions:  1.  PDG Vanessa Stanley will lead a class on Roberts Rules of Order and how to conduct a Lions meeting.  2.  GLT Area Leader & PCC Mark Miller will lead a discussion on a Lions Club forming a 501 C3 or incorporating a Lions Club

12:00—12:45 PM      Lunch–$6  We will hear students from the Harvest Deaf Ministries in Ringgold sing and watch the DVD, ”A Better Georgia” .

1:00—2:15 PM      Business Meeting

2:15—2:30 PM      Summary of Service Project & Adjourn

2:30 PM       Travel to Booth Museum–$6 Entry Fee

The training sessions covering how to incorporate/501 c 3 a Club, Roberts Rules of Order and conducting a Lions meeting and how to conduct a member orientation for your Club for our members are being offered for an excellent learning experience.

We will also have one service projects to work on during the day. We will do another non perishable food drive that day. The first food drive in Roswell was a success collecting about 800 packages of food. For each can or package you bring to the meeting you will receive a ticket for a donated door prize drawing. The more food items you bring to the meeting, the greater chance of winning a door prize. There is no limit on the number of tickets you can receive. In the end, we will be helping people in need within our District have food items that otherwise would not be available. This will be another exciting opportunity for our Clubs to participate in and also to take back to their communities for future outreach programs. Hopefully, we can exceed the 800 food containers collected in August.

We will also receive a final update on our District tree planting project.  At this point we have commitments from clubs to plant 5300 trees.

We will hear students from a deaf school sing and watch the DVD, “A Better Georgia”.

We also plan to visit the Booth Museum which is affiliated with the Smithsonian and has the largest collection of hanging Western art in the US. Entry fee to the Booth will be $6; a great bargain! I would encourage all of our Lions to attend our Fall Rally on November 5 for a very good and exciting day!

Please advise Teri Chambers-Rice, District Cabinet Secretary if you are attending so we can provide lunch for all the Lions attending and also if you plan to visit the Booth Museum. You can contact Teri at terikchambers@comcast.net or phone 678-402-6133.

Directions to the Clarence Brown Conference Center—Take I-75 to Cartersville. Take exit 290 which is the Georgia 20 exit. Go west on Georgia 20 for 0.8 mile and the Conference Center is on the left.
